Lunar New Year Concert 2025 - Hong Kong String Orchestra’s Australian Debut

Celebrate Lunar New Year with the internationally acclaimed Hong Kong String Orchestra in their Australian debut, welcoming the Year of the Snake. Led by virtuoso Yao Jue, this 25-piece ensemble brings their masterful fusion of Eastern and Western classical music to life, performing beloved works by Vivaldi alongside traditional pieces. The Hong Kong String Orchestra (HKSO) debuts to Australia with founder and artistic director, Yao Jue, as part of its Belt and Road Initiative concert tour in South East Asia! Well known locally and internationally for its "music uniqueness fusing Eastern and Western influences", the HKSO will perform a varied programme that demonstrates their unique aesthetics and sound.

The concert opens with a famous Chinese classical selection The Spring Festival Prelude by Li Huanzhi, and concerto for Violin, Piano and Strings in D minor by Mendelssohn. The second half comprises Chinese pieces, featuring the famous Yao Dance Driving the mule team Jasmine flowers, a Single Bamboo Can Easily Bend, and a Horseherd’s Mountain Song, and Koo Kar Fai Hong Kong Pop Song Medley arranged by Ronald Fu
